27 Feb Emergency Response Training Course- NUEC 3
Nipika is hosting the Non-Urban Emergency Care Level 3 (NUEC 3) course for professional non-urban responders.
Date: April 30-May 10
The Non-Urban Emergency Care Level 3 (NUEC 3) is a training program developed by PEAK and designed for professional (paid and volunteer) non-urban responders such as ski/bike patrollers, search & rescue technicians and mountain guides who are tasked with providing emergency medical care.
NUEC 3 is a government accredited training program that meets the criteria as a 110-hour training standard. Specific NUEC 3 program modules address the injuries and illnesses that non-urban responders are likely to encounter, conditions that are typically not addressed – or lack the necessary depth – in other first aid training programs.
Some specific training subjects included in the program are high-altitude and cold/heat related illnesses, disabled skier related injuries/illnesses, paediatric emergencies, common medical emergencies, treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, specific snow-sport injuries, behavioral emergencies, remote area extrications, non-urban cardiac arrest management, and the use of the specialized equipment needed for emergency care and transportation in remote environments.
The NUEC 3 program certification is recognized by regulatory authorities throughout Canada at the ‘Advanced First Aid Training Level’ standard.
After successful completion of the course, certifications received include Non-Urban Emergency Care 3 (NUEC 3), Non-Urban Cardiac Arrest Management (NUCAM), and CPR Level ‘HCP’.
The course is intensive and runs for 10 days over an 11-day period. Registrants can stay at Nipika in shared accommodations for $45.20 per night. There are full kitchens in the cabins, so bring food and beverages as there is no restaurant on site.
For more information and to register, visit the PEAK website. The course location is listed as Radium Hot Springs but will run at Nipika Mountain Resort.
To book accommodations, please call the Nipika office at 1-877-647-4525.
Cost: $795 plus the cost of textbooks.
