During the Nipika Mountain Trail Running Retreat, situated in the beautiful Canadian rocky mountains, boarding the Kootenay National Park, you’ll tune in to what drives you—in running and in life—and make sure that your energy is going into the activities that most feed your soul.

Itinerary

Friday, May 12 – Arrivals throughout the midday/afternoon.

3:30 p.m. Welcome meeting and orientation. Meet your coach, leaders and review the weekend’s itinerary and what to expect. Come dressed to run, as after the meeting, we’ll head out onto the trails for a relaxed, social shake out run of about 5 – 7 km. After the run, you’ll have plenty of time to freshen up at your cabin before the group dinner. 6:30 p.m. Group Dinner

Post dinner social drink around fire

Saturday, May 13

Breakfast 7:00-8:30

9:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Group Warm up and head out for an 15-20km run where we will cover technique and race strategy.

1:30-2:30 p.m. – (with the bike camp) Train the zones presentation from Lyle Wilson, former Olympic coach. How to create more efficient training to increase improvement.

Sunday, May 14

Breakfast

9:00 – 11:30 a.m. Group Run on Nipika Trails of about 10 – 18 km.

11:30 Brunch and retreat wrap up. We’ll review what you’ve learned and the key take-aways and techniques you’ll continue applying to your running once you return home.

Coach

Tara Newbigging

Entrepreneur, mastermind behind the BooTy® program, Soul Coach, Fitness Coach, Yoga Teacher, and adventure seeker residing in the Canadian Rockies. Tara holds a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education with a Major in Health Promotion. Tara moved to the rockies in 2014 when she decided so follow her heart and place herself in a community that supported her personal passions for the outdoors as well as a place where she could develop and work on her Brand.

Tara loves trail running, and is always up for an adventure. She is a passionate individual who loves to inspire people and help them discover their talents and gifts. Her mission is to encourage and empower others to achieve higher levels of personal wellness and fulfillment.

Tara will be helping out at the May 12-14th Nipika Running Retreat weekend.

Leading Body weight strength session, helping with the guided group runs, and leading yoga classes.

Lyle Wilson

Lyle has a lifetime of leadership in sport and outdoor recreation. Lyle’s background includes two Olympic Games as a coach with the Canadian Cross Country Ski Team, founder of the “Fresh Air Experience” outdoor stores, as well as national level competition in canoeing, kayaking, and cross country skiing. Lyle is an avid skier, runner and mountain biker, is a competent mountaineer, and keen naturalist.  Owner Operator of Nipika Mountain Resort.
