Experience our guided activities! They offer guests a chance to try something new, explore the mountains further, and improve their skills. Open to cabin guests and day trippers!
New to hiking, unsure of hiking in the mountains, or just want some company? Come on a guided hike with us!
We will hike on the Nipika / Cross River Canyon Recreation Site trails to panoramic viewpoints overlooking the aquamarine Kootenay and Cross Rivers, and talk about the beautiful land, some of the history, and nature- from the trees and animals in the area to wildfires.
Our guides will find the right hike for your group based on comfort and fitness levels.

Itinerary
You will meet your guide in the upper parking lot by the check in building at 10am.
Expect the hike to last 2-4 hours, depending on the group.
Please bring water, snacks, rain jacket, good walking shoes, your camera, and a sense of adventure!
We provide an experienced and knowledgeable guide and precautionary safety equipment.

Spend a day with Kootenay River Runners’ professional guides on the Kootenay River! The class II-III rapids provide the perfect mix of relaxation and paddling along the calmer sections, but also lots of fun and adventure in the rapids!
Choose from three options on the Kootenay River, with the option for pick up right from Nipika.

Classic ½ Day – 9 AMÂ
Enjoy 18km of class II-III whitewater rafting with a delicious snack along the way. They bring coffee and locally made cinnamon buns to add to the river adventure.
Extended ½ Day – 11 AMÂ
Not operating daily; but you might be lucky to grab a seat on this amazing tour. Join the Kootenay trip en route, catch riverside lunch, and a stop at Pedley Falls!
Full Day – 9 AM
Raft a remarkable 45km and catch all of the rapids, both riverside snack and lunch plus the highlight of the day: a stop at Pedley Falls! Your day will be filled with splashes, amazing information from our river guides, and more than a few bad jokes.

Join us on an alpine hike with wildflowers, hidden lakes, and challenging singletrack.
Nipika is located in the Rocky Mountains with endless options for all hikers- beginner, advanced, or in between. You can expect varying terrain, wildflowers, snow-peaked mountains, and hidden lakes.
Our guides will work with you to find the right alpine hike for your comfort and fitness level. If you’re interested in a hike with less elevation, please check out our on site day hikes.

Itinerary
You will meet your guide at 9:30am in the upper parking lot by the check in cabin before departing for the trailhead.
Expect a full day (from 6-8 hours) of hiking depending on the trip.
Please bring water, snacks and lunch, hat, rain jacket, good walking shoes, your camera, and a sense of adventure!
We provide an experienced and knowledgeable guide, shuttle to and from the trailhead, and precautionary safety equipment.

Join us for a cross country ski lesson! Our instructors can help you achieve your goals this season, whether it’s learning to cross-country ski or finetuning your current technique.
We offer lessons in classic and skate technique to small or large groups. Lessons take place on Nipika’s training grid and professionally groomed trail system.
Lyle Wilson, Nipika’s Ski School Director, coached Canada’s Olympic cross-country ski teams in the 1988 and 1992 winter games. Other instructors are CANSI certified.

Lessons are finished for the year.
Lessons are available at 10am most days throughout winter (see the booking link for availability.) They are approximately 1.5 hrs.
Book with your family or friends! Both cabin guests and day trippers are welcome.

Itinerary
Lessons begin with a quick meet and greet and equipment discussion (fit, wax, etc) before moving to the teaching area. During the lesson you work on skills and simple progressions to develop your technique to become an efficient skier.
It ends with a ski on the trail system to work on what you learned.
Cross country skis, boots, and poles are available for rent.
